Your guide to Salik

Salik, meaning open or clear, is Dubai’s road toll system that operates without toll-booths or barriers. Introduced on Dubai roads in 2007 by RTA as a free-flowing system without the need to stop your car and pay manually, its all automated so you just drive stratight through. Currently there are a total of 8 toll gates around the emirate of Dubai

So How does it work?

Each time you drive through a Salik toll gate, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology detects your vehicle and scans your Salik sticker tag. The toll of AED 4 is automatically deducted from your prepaid toll account.

you can top up your salik account through the Salik website: www.salik.gov.ae or by calling 24-hour toll-free number: 800-Salik (72545)

Where are the Salik gates located?

  1. Jebel Ali on Sheikh Zayed Road
  2. Al Barsha on Sheikh Zayed Road
  3. Al Safa on Sheikh Zayed Road
  4. Al Garhoud Bridge on Sheikh Rashid Road
  5. Airport Tunnel on Beirut Street
  6. Al Maktoum Bridge on Umm Hurair Road
  7. Al Mamzar North on (Al Ittihad Road)
  8. Al Mamzar South on (Al Ittihad Road)

There are two types of Salik violations:

Unregistered Plate (URP violations)

If you drive through a Salik toll gate without a registered Salik tag on your vehicle and you don’t purchase and register a tag within 10 working days from the date of the first trip, you’ll get a violations of:

  • AED 100 the first time, trip
  • AED 200 the second trip time, and
  • AED 400 each subsequent time you drive through a toll gate.

Insufficient Funds (ISF violations)

If you drive through a Salik toll gate with insufficient funds in your Salik account to cover the toll fee and you don’t recharge your account within 5 working days from the date and the time of the trip, you will get a AED 50 violations.

Note: There is a maximum of one violation per day per vehicle, if you travel through multiple times during the day.
